Compensation - it's the money not the principle

Employment Law in Practice

The end game - it's the money not the principle

In essence, an employment solicitor's advice is on how to make money from losing your job.  What is the law?  What legal rights have been breached?  What are the relevant issues and evidence?  How much money does all this mean?  As to the last question, an experienced employment solicitor should provide an idea to what is the correct amount at a certain point in litigation.  Generally, if you have a good employment claim and the employer's solicitor recognises that the likelihood of success is weighed in your favour a damage limitation exercise is undertaken from the outset.  Negotiations begin, with an offer from the employer's solicitors, usually with a lesser sum than is likely to be awarded at an employment tribunal, and incrementally increased.   The question is then, at what point in proceedings is the correct amount of money offered that would be acceptable in the circumstances?
